Retroizer

The Retroizer is an absurd tool for downgrading the graphics of your games. I built it specifically to help me decide if I liked a game for its graphics or its gameplay by downgrading the graphics.

Usage is simple enough. Boot the program, then click and drag the cross from the retroizer window to your target window.

And you should get a proper output in black and white

Tips and options

The options menu contains three items: 1-bit color, 3-bit color, and a virtual cursor. The virtual cursor was implemented because many programs use a hardware cursor, and so it is not visible in the extra window.

Unfortunately, due to the way windows handles drawing, I failed to figure out how to take data from a non-visible window, which would been ideal. This means, unfortunately, that one needs to have the original window visible. Because of this, I usually set the source window to have the smallest resolution available. If the smallest resolution was still pretty big, I covered up that part of my monitor with a book, or piece of paper.

The retroizer window is scalable, so you can size it as needed or desired.
